The last Summer dance out was at Blisland
(Where our Squire called the final dance of her tenure)
There was a brief pause in the rain – so we and friends Barrel Morris
danced at Lewannick and then the heavens opened….
The Cornwall Folk Festival called for us to dance
We went to Polmear and Tywardreath (when it was a little dark)
We danced under the instruction of our Squire elect – sometimes with sticks and then – not
We danced on the Quay at Meva (gissey)
and folk joined us in Princess Royal
We also sang in the Fountain (PH)
We had a brief interlude to celebrate a 50th Wedding Anniversary (Pete & Linda)
We went back to Trevarrion after 30 years and moved a table or two
(and weren’t delayed by Boardmasters at all )
And then went on to see the sunset and dance at the Merrymoor (Thanks Nick & Dudley !)
We even borrowed somebody from the crowd
We met Germans at Pentewan, and Mexicans at Polgooth
The Germans were in search of their TV Star Judith Rakers (we met in 2022)
We went to the Silver Ball at St Columb
(Neil didn’t get arrested )
And then the Falcon at St Mawgan (on the slope)
We danced out by the Charlestown Lock gates (under repair alas)
Together with our friends from Tywardreath Morris
We had a large band at times

and then to St Kew

And then went to The Crumplehorn with a much smaller audience than hitherto

Then Probus
Not forgetting “Mr Thimbles”
And all on one leg ?
Trigger trying to get in a selfie again
And we joined in the collective singing of “I vow to thee my country” for VE day
The first Thursday was Caradon :
and the question remains what is the Collective noun for Hats (Thanks Peter)
We started dancing for real on Easter Monday
At Launceston we were greeted by the Town Crier Rob Tremaine
He’s been doing that job since 1977 – almost as long as us – so we presented him with a tankard
We went on to Lewannick
People joined in
And then onto Blisland in the Sun
Wassailing was done at Toynes House
The trees were toasted and fed with cider
And then there is the inevitable Feast of St Hyginus (Ta to Peter Glaser)
